Danielle Onesto
Colored pencil and watercolor
Artist bio: Danielle Onesto is an artist working with colored pencil and watercolor to depict plants and organisms woven together in a complex dance. Born and raised on Long Island, New York, Danielle graduated from Pratt Institute with a Masters in Art and Design Education along with a fine arts concentration in drawing. Danielle spent years as a freelance designer and artist teacher before eventually leaving New York and following an intuitive pull to be closer to nature to spend more time outdoors. She now lives and works in California where she gathers inspiration for her work by wandering the wild coastal bluffs and redwood forests of Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Her work explores the restorative effects of living a life close to nature and seeks to understand the body’s memory of being a part of an integrated ecosystem.
Artist Statement:
My work aims to strengthen our relationship with the natural world, highlighting its transformative power to heal, inspire, and energize. Meticulously layered colored pencil brings to life the intricate details and textures of the subject matter that has captured my attention in the field. I invite you to use these drawings as a way to look closely at the beauty and complexity of nature and feel its restorative effects. My hope is to inspire a deeper connection and stewardship towards our planet and all who inhabit it.
