Soutache jewelry found me one day in a local shop where I discovered a book about it while looking for something else. It haunted my dreams and imagination for months before I surrendered. Now it is my passion.
My handmade jewelry is based on the revival of techniques created over 500 years ago using soutache braid (aka Russian braid). Originally used for decoration on draperies and furniture, women adapted it for use on all types of garments. The techniques have been handed down through generations of women who incorporated designs from tribal, oriental and other folk traditions. My work is inspired by ancient cultures, dreams, and past life memories.
I use a combination of natural stones, beads, soutache braid, findings and whatever else inspires me.
